WEBB'S BATTERY.

The _ centrifugal pump, erected to lift the tailings and soiled water from the battery is working admirably. It certainly 'is nofc much! of a lift—about three feet. From the delivery of the pump the water is carried into the bay by a system of flumes. The rmnip, although no new feature on the Thames, is the first that has been erected as a tailings elevator. Mr. Webb has certainly lost no time in making the improvement, the battery being again at work for the Cure, Coliban, Black Angel and Waitemata, all of which are anything but duffers. Mr; Webb is steaming with half coaland halfr wood. -''. -
