John Boyd was charged with that he, being the driver,of a. public rehicle, left it so that he had not complete control of the horse drawing the same. Mr. Bullen v sta ted that the neglect on the part of the accused was most outrageous ; in fact, :a ; passenger waited so long that he had driven the conveyance himself to Shortland. The complaints against the. drivers had been frequent for the same offence. The defendant said that he had left a boy in charge who came to him and said the vehicle had gone away to Shortland. He was not the owner of the trap, only the driver. ;- ; Mr Maginn stated that he was the person who had driven the conveyance into Shortland. There were other persons in the vehicle. He waited about twenty minutes for the driver, who could not be found. Fined 10s, and costs.
