ACADEMY OP MUSIC
The talented troupe who performed at the Academy of Music last night were patronised by the best general house that any company have gathered together for many a day, and the first piece presented was the " Loan of a Lover," Mr Collier and Miss Steplienson takiag the principal parts—Miss Stephenson taking the part of Gertrude with a most charming grace. Mr Collier played the part of Spyke admirably, the other ladies and gentlemen ef the company playing up to the principal characters most excellently well. iThe afterpiece—" Ixion " —was put on ihe stage in a manner and style somewhat new to provincials, as some folks call us; the play was acted with an attention to dress and modesty, that could not offend a,ny but the veriest prude. Laat, but not a bit the. leasti must be noticed the new scenery by Mr John Calder, of the. Thames. It is a great pit,- that we do not see more of the productions in theatrical scenery from that gentleman's pencil; our theatres want touching up a bit in that way. The Company play 1 at the .fcoyal for the remainder of the week, owing to the Academy being otherwise engaged. {
