NOLAN'S CANDLELIGHT.
A, crushing o<" a small parcel of about 4| tons of stone from this once celebrated piece.of ground has just been crushed at.tho Prince Alfred battery for a return of 10 ozs. Nolan's Candlelight claim is one of the farthest outlying claims in the district, 1 and at one time caused no small stir in the sharemarket; now, very few on the Thames know where it actually is situated. To go to it you must climb the highest ranges seen from the Ifet, and then away across Ponga ]?lat on the top of them, and across^ towards the Lucky Hit, which name unfortunately is a misnomer, it having been anything but a lucky hit for its shareholders. The ■Nolan's Candlelight is on the - falling ground the other' side of the ranges, in countiy but hitherto little prospected, and the men now working it deserve great credit for trying to open up a part of the Thames district which has been almost a sealed book us for years, and seemed to be given up to cattle and goats. .
