The chair waa occupied by Mr. B. J. Creighton, who waa supported' on hit right and left respectively by the guest of the evening and Mr B. H. Leary, Mr Mitchell •cling aa rice. Most of the employes of the Guardian were present, and, in addition, there , were also representatives from the other ; journals of this city—Messrs Humphries, Miccol, Harris, and Allen from the Times, . and Messrs M. < Cohen and Drum from the ■ Evening Star. After the very excellent spread provided by Host Heatherington had " - been dispoaed of, and the usual loyal toasts . given and reaponded to, the chairman rose to propose tha toast of the evening, via., " Our Guest." . In doing so he paid a very high compliment to the abilities of Mr. Ferrier, and expreaaed, on the part of-himself and alto of the other gentlemen connected with this journal, the regret he felt that that gentleman had elected to leave the Guardian, and ' remove to another sphere of operations. At the close of his revurka he presented Mr. Perrier with a very handsome gold chain and locket, which had been subscribed for- by the Guardian staff as a murk of their regard for ■ that gontleman, and as a token of their thorough appreciation of his paßt conduct. Mr Ferrier replied in suitable terms. A number of other toasts were proposed and responded to, and a very pleasant evening waa passed. We wish Mr Ferrier every success in his new aphere.
