ARRIVAL OF THE LADY EMMA.
The barque Lady Emma, John Shimmins, master, arrived from .Newcastle on Saturday, after a passage of 11 days, having left Newcastle on the sth. She brings 286 tons of coals to the order of Captain Souter., The barque anchored five miles below Tararu arid for some hours signalled for a pilot, without any response. The Crown coming by, the barque was noticed and Captain Souter, who was on board the Crown, was placed on board the Lady Emma and piloted her up. We have no pilot at this port, and but for the timely appearance of the Crown the barque might have lain outside until now. We understand that Mr John Brown, M.P.C., is about to bring the matter before the Executive and the Council, with a view to some attention being paid to the requirements of thi3 port. The Harbor Master, it is thought, could also act as pilot,: with, of course, increased salary. The Thames has hitherto been shamefully neglected as a seaport, its proximity to Auckland being, we suppose, the reason.
