THAMES CHORAL SOCIETY.

The first concert of the Thames Choral Society will be given to-morrow evening in the Academy of Music, at which nearly all the musical talent of the Thames will be gathered.. The Choral Society, although not long in existence, numbers in its ranks many accredited musicians and singers who hare done good service in other societies. They have been very attentive to practices, and now feel sufficient confidence to make a public appearance. The first part of the programme will be composed entirely/ of sacred music, namely, selections from ■ the oratorio of "Messiah/, including, besides many otters, ihe recita* tive "Comfort' Ye My People/ the air and ch»rus " Oh Thou That Tellest," the "Hallelujah Chorus" and the air " I Know that My Kedeemer Liveth." The^second part will be devoted to secular music, and includes some favorite songs, glees and duets by well-known amateurs, whose names are, however,' withheld for obvious reasons. Mr Owen will preside at the pianoforte; Mr Weeks at the harmonium ; and Mr Grigg will conduct" The concert will be for the benefit of the Benevolent Fund of tlie Sir "Walter Scott Lodge, in consideration of the Freemasons' Hall having been granted for the use of the Society s practices rent free. The members of the Lodge are to turn out in regalia and attend the concert, and from the widespread interest centred in the society through its members being com* posed of all sections of the community we expect to see a full house.
