Picnic Held Saturday was a perfect day and the motorists’ camping ground at the southern end of the Lake, surrounded by a large plantation of trees, was a perfect setting for the picnic conducted by a representative committee of all the Hydro camps. Adults and children alike were conveyed to the picnic site by bus as early as 10 o’clock to begin a strenuous programme of races and other events. Lunch and afternoon tea were provided. In between times cordials and ice cream were served. At 2.30 p.m. Father Christmas arrived in his sleigh and looked a picturesque sight as he was pined in by Mr Ron Cowan through the trees to the grounds. A parcel was presented to each child present by "Santa,” who received a warm welcome. In the evening a dance was held in the Y.M.C.A. Hall, where more than 100 persons danced to the music of the “Tekaponians” local musical combination.
Billiards A team of six players travelled from Fairlie to play a friendly billiards match. The games of 250 up were Well contested. The visitors proved too strong for the local players and were victors by four games to two. It is hoped to arrange a return visit early in the New Year. Messrs Herlund, G. Brown, Crozier, Morton, King and R. Thomas comprised the Hydro team, while Fairlie were represented by Messrs P. Trotter (captain), Pryde, Ferguson, Davis, Cogar and Cuthill.
