CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE

End-of-Season Social , With a social evening in St. Patrick’s Hall, the Timaru branch of the Catholic Women’s League closed its activities for the year. Tire president, Mrs R. M. Fitzgerald, welcomed the Mayoress (Mrs A. E. S. Hanan) and visitors from other organisations. The Rev. Father P. Heagney, S.M., addressed the meeting. A competition for hats made of real flowers was won by Mrs W. H. Hall, the judges being Mesdames Hanan and H. R. Williams. During the evening items were given by Misses Bernadette and Veronica Scott (pianoforte duet), Marie Dooley (songs), Gloria Stark (violin solos), Anne Campbell (songs), Joan Kane, and Mrs J. Bilson (dialogue). Mrs A. C. Fahey and Miss Lyons were the accompanists. Miss Leona Stark moved a vote of thanks to Father Heagney and the performers before supper was served.
