WEATHER SOUTH CANTERBURY FORECAST

FAIR The following is the forecast for South Canterbury issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the period ending 5 p.m. to-day:— General Situation Pressure is high north and west of New Zealand. FINE DAY Yesterday was overcast for the most part with a little sunshine during the afternoon. Rain set in in the evening. Following are the records taken at Timaru Park for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday with the exception of the maximum temperature and sunshine for the day, which were taken at 7 p.m.;— Max. temperature in shade: 67.4. Min. temnerature on grass: 42.0. Wind: S.W.I. Rainfall: 1.93 niches. Rainfall to date this year: 32.21in5. Rainfall to date last year: 23.53in5. Sunshine: 2.9 hours. Sunshine to date this year: 1797.0 hrs Sunshine to date last year: 1715.1 hrs IN OTHER CENTRES Geraldine—For the twenty-four hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday 2.B3ins of rain were recorded. The weather broke in the afternoon when bright sunshine prevailed. Temuka—Yesterday was showery with a south-east wind. The maximum temperature was 64 degrees and the minimum 42. A rainfall of 2.18 inches was recorded. The glass was rising last evening. Waimate (for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday)—Barometer, 29.0: thermometer, maximum 57.0, minimum 41.0; rain, 196 points; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours. 84. Yesterday was overcast and cold with scattered showers.
