TONGA CELEBRATES

Royal Centenary ■ 7.30 p.m.) NUKUALOFA, (Tonga), December 5. The little capital of the Polynesian kingdom of Tonga is now thronged by singing, dancing crowds decked with tropical flowers in the celebration of the centenary of the coronation of King George Tupou. Tlie first delegations of the high chiefs of Fiji and Samoa have added their gifts to the great heaps piled before the palace. Queen Salote is the present sovereign. The Governor of Fiji, Sir Alexander Grantham, flew to Tonga to represent his Majesty and invested the Queen with the Grand Cross of the British Empire. The warships, Euralus and Arabis, represent the Roval Navy and the Royal New Zealand Navy. A battery of saluting guns brought by the Euralus as a gift from the British Government was installed before the palace. The formal and informal ceremonies will last many days.
