Card Tournament The final of a series of card parties was held in the Soldiers’ Memorial Hall. Winners of the Flag 500 were Mrs L. Burrows and Messrs E. McNab and R. Wright, the consolation prizes going to Mrs L. Wood, Miss M. Sugrue and Mr Ray Davies. The chairman of the Hall Committee, Mr D. G. Cain, thanked all who had given prizes. The entertainments had been held in aid of the hall, school and the tennis club and he was pleased to say that the funds of each would benefit considerably. He also expressed thanks to those who had so willingly played for the dances. Personal Constable G. Sauer spent his leave with his parents, Mr and Mrs E. Sauer, Esk Valley. Mrs M. P. Mills is visiting Christchurch. Mrs W. Beattie spent the week-end at Palmerston. Mr and Mrs Burnett, who have been the guests of Mrs M. P. Mills, have returned to Christchurch. Nurse L. Stowell, who has been visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs H. J. Stowell, has returned to Oamaru. Welcome Home In the Scotston granary Mrs M. P. Mills tendered a welcome home party to Mr and Mrs Harold Miles. The evening was spent in dancing. Mr H. J Stowell, Canon Aitcheson i Waimate), Mr Baxter (Christchurch), Mr W. Jackson (Hunter), and Mrs Woodhouse expressed felicitations. Mrs W. Coup made the presentation of an envelope of notes. Items were supplied by Miss Leslie Martin (tap dance). Miss Melva Johnston i.songs), and Mr Ben Cunningham (songs and stories). Mrs L. Bishop supplied the music and Mr John Blank was the M.C.
