BRITISH PLANE CRASHES

Twenty-seven Deaths (Rec. 7.30 pm.) PARIS, Dee. 3. Twentv-seven persons were killed when a four-engined British aircraft crashed to-day near the mouth of the river Charente. The plane is believed to have been struck bv lightning durine a trip from Malta. The tail and the outer port wine with the outer port engine broke off in mid-air before the plane dived into a bridee near Rochefort. The 27 killed consisted of five members of the crew and 22 British servicemen flying home from Malta on leave.
