SHOWERY The following is the forecast for South Canterbury issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the period ending 5 p.m. to-day:— General Situation Pressure is high to the north-east, but a depression is crossing Otago from the north-west. Forecast Winds—Fresh north-easterly winds. Weather—Cloudy with occasional rain, but fair periods developing from the south; temperatures becoming cooler. Further Outlook—Fair. Following are the records taken at Timaru Park for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday with the exception of the maximum temperature and sunshine for the day, which were taken at 7 p.m.:— Max. temperature in shade: 65.4. Min. temperature on grass: 45.4. Wind: Nil. Rainfall: Nil. Rainfall to date this year: 30.28in5. Rainfall to date last year: 22.87 ins Sunshine: 0.7 hour. Sunshine to date this year: 1794.1 hrs Sunshine to date last year: 1715.1 hrs IN OTHER CENTRES Geraldine—Yesterday morning was overcast and steady rain developed in the afternoon. Temuka— Yesterday was dull and showery with an easterly wind. The maximum temperature was 63 degrees and the minimum 45. The glass was steady last evening. Waimate (for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday)—Barometer, 29.2; thermometer, maximum 69.5, minimum 51.3; bright sunshine, 3 hours; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours, 127. Yesterday was overcast and cool with rain in the late afternoon.
