WEATHER SOUTH CANTERBURY FORECAST

SHOWERY The following is the forecast for South Canterbury issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the period ending 5 p.m. to-day:— General Situation Pressure is high to the north-east, but a depression is crossing Otago from the north-west. Forecast Winds—Fresh north-easterly winds. Weather—Cloudy with occasional rain, but fair periods developing from the south; temperatures becoming cooler. Further Outlook—Fair. Temuka— Yesterday was dull and showery with an easterly wind. The maximum temperature was 63 degrees and the minimum 45. The glass was steady last evening. Waimate (for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday)—Barometer, 29.2; thermometer, maximum 69.5, minimum 51.3; bright sunshine, 3 hours; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours, 127. Yesterday was overcast and cool with rain in the late afternoon.
