PROSPERITY AHEAD

Australian Forecast (Rec. 8.35 p.m.) SYDNEY. Nov. 30. A period of great nrosneritv for Au'tralia is forecast bv Si’* Robert Dalton, senior British Trade Commissioner in Australia. The reasons given are the big expenditure of loan funds on public works and the increased demand for consumer goods. He foresees further widescale ventures in local manufacture, which will make the resumption of the import trade the more difficult. These points are made by Sir Robert Dalton in a review of post-war trade prospects for British exnorts to Australia, published by the Department of Overseas Trade. He emphasises that the funds overseas to the credit of the Australian account are now higher than before the war. “AL the same time." he says, “there is a considerable shortage of Consumer goods and some shortage of cani'al goods in Australia. Pent-up needs are great, and there will, therefore, be a keen demand for goods.
