Further Control Measure (NZ.P.A.) WELLINGTON Nov. 30. The lifting ol contn measure was announced to-day by the Minister ot National Service (the Hon. A. McLagzn' Employer* in essential industries will no longer require to obtain consent before engaging lab ur provided that they notify any engagements to the manpower officer within 48 hours The effect of this relaxation is that prior consent to engagements of labour will henceforth be required only in the case of non-essential undertakings, and even then only in the case of single women aged 18 to 30 and men aged 18 to 45, other than returned servicemen. The Minister said the target dates had been announced for the lilting of the various remaining controls, and he was anxious to see all the remaining essential industries reach a point by those dates at which they will no longer depend on manpower controls to secure staff.
