RUGBY N.Z. ARMY TEAM
Llanelly Defeated
LONDON, October 30. The New Zealand touring Rugby team beat Llanelly by 16 points to 8 at Llanelly. The New Zealanders. who are being called the “Kiwis,” fought very hard. Although the New Zealanders within five minutes of the start were five points ahead and had soon doubled their lead, the Welshmen recovered from their early reverses and fully extended their opponents.
The strong lively Llanelly pack gradually mastered the powerful New Zealand eight so that in the second half the touring team had a lot of defending to do. The New Zealand backs, however, were better balanced. Allen and Dobson at five-eighths formed an incisive pair. Finlay was the most prominent of the forwards. The New Zeaanders scored four tries, two of which were converted. Llanelly's points came from a converted try and a penalty.
