LAW SOCIETY
Tribute To War Effort Of Members (N.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON. Nov. 1. The fine voluntary service given by members of the New Zealand Law Society throughout the war in providing free legal advice to men and women of the Armed Forces was commended to-day by the Minister of Defence <the Hon. F. Jones) who expressed his own and the Government's appreciation. Camps and statiohs had been visited regularly by members of the Society using their own cars, and legal assistance had been given servicemen in various ways. The Society had also assisted rehabilitation by substantially reducing charges for legal work done for returned servicemen.
Apart from the magnificent record of members of the legal profession in the fighting services, said Mr Jones, this work by their colleagues on the home front was a war effort of w’hich the Society had every reason to be proud.
