STATION AT TIMARU

Broadcasting Facilities Sought

The possibilities of a broadcasting station being established at Timaru are to be explored by the Automobile Association (South Canterbury). A resolution to this effect was adopted at the annual general meeting last evening.

"During the recent floods, storm damage and high winds we were badly put about by the lack of communication, and I think it would be in the interests of motorists generally if a broadcasting station were established in Timaru to service South Canterbury.” said Mr C. W. Browne, in moving the adoption of the resolution. When representations for a station were made previ usly, he understood that nothing could be done owing to the war and lack of equipment, which was being utilised for war purposes. "But now the war is over and I think the equipment should be available.” he added.
