SPORTS GEAR
Few Shortages This Summer Summer sports gear is likely to be | more plentiful this yearj than last, and ; there is no indication that prices will Ibe higher. Good quality English cricket bats and balls will probably be 1 hard to get. Commenting on the procurability of I sports gear for the coming season, a I Timaru retailer said yesterday that I Canadian made tennis balls would be | on open sale to the public this sumI tner. Last year they had to be i ordered through the South Canterbury I Sports Council. Good quality tennis I racquets would also be plentiful, but i there was at present a shortage of tennis nets. For cricket clubs and players there I will be no shortage of stumps, pads and gloves, but owing to the shortage of eiastic. athletic supports are unprocurable. I “Stocks are to hand of flies, casts I and other fishing tackle." the dealer I said, "but in general I think there is i likely to be a shortage before the season is over.”
