SAIGON QUIET

Conferences Proceed (7.30 p.m.) SAIGON, Oct. 3. Major-General Gracey received the Nationalist leaders for a two-hour conference. The Nationalist leaders will confer to-morrow with the French authorities. Saigon at present is comparatively quiet. The French War Minister (M. Jacquinot) announced that the carrier Beam, the battleship Lorraine and the cruiser Suffreh are being sent to Saigon to join the Richlieu and Triomphant, which arrived yesterday. Several other cruisers will follow. The warships would “establish full French sovereignty.” The New Delhi radio said that nine British, American and French soldiers were killed and 35 wounded in the disturbances in Indo-China in the last month. Five others are missing. Twenty French civilians were killed and 229 kidnapped, but 102 of the'kidnapped persons have since been released. Annamite casualties are estimated in the region of 59 killed and 200 wounded.
