N.Z. ARMY RUGBY TEAM

Tour Of Britain N.Z.P.A. —Special Correspondent (7.30 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 3. Something in the nature of a news blackout is being applied to the New Zealand Army Rugby team, 40 members of which are now training in England and awaiting the arrival of others from Italy during the week-end. The reason, which is understandable, is that the newspapers here might comment favourably on a player who may not ultimately be chosen for the team which will make the tour. Their comment would, therefore, be decidedly premature. The men, who are in hard training at Westgate, have already played one game. It was against the New Zealand Services side which the previous week had defeated Wasps by 14 points to 3. No Press representatives were invited to the match and no details of the result, form or run of play being made available. Further trial matches will be held, when the remainder of the players arrive from Italy. The English Press will be invited to see one of these. Tire tour begins on October 27. The itinerary, which is still incomplete so far, is as follows: —October 27, Swansea, at Swansea; October 30. Llanelly, at Llanelly; November 3, Neath, at Neath; November 24, England, at Twickenham; December 12, Army, at Bristol; December 8, R.A.F., at Leicester; December 15, Royal Navy, at Portsmouth; December 26. Cardiff, at Cardiff; December 29, Newport, at Newport; December 31. Monmouthshire, at Pontypool; 1946. January 5. Wales, at Cardiff; January 12. Combined Services, at Gloucester; January 31 Midlands, at Coventry; February 2. Northumberland. Durham and Cumberland. at Newcastle; February 9. Cheshire. Lancashire and Yorkshire, at Sale; February 16. South-west Counties. no venue. . In addition, matches are being arranged in Ireland and Scotland and against the Universities.
