DULL AND COLD After heavy showers in the early morning, yesterday was overcast and cool with a heavy hail shower toward evening. Following are the records taken at Timaru Park for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday with the exception of the maximum temperature and sunshine for the day, which were taken at 7 p.m.:— Max. temperature in shade; 48.2. Min. temperature on grass: 37.6. Frost: Nil. Wind: S.S.W.I. Rainfall: 0.21 inch. Rainfall to date this vear: 28.90in5. Rainfall to date last year: 18.97in5. Sunshine: Nil. Sunshine to date this vear: 1373.3 hrs Sunshine to date last year: 1293.2 hrs IN OTHER CENTRES Temuka.— Yesterday was cold and showery with a sou'-west wind. The maximum temperature was 49 degrees and the minimum 40 degrees. There were 23 points of rain up to 4 p.m. Waimate (for the 24 hours ended at. 9 a.m. yesterday).—Barometer, 29.0; thermometer, maximum 51.4, minimum 41; rain, 5 points; bright sunshine, 5 hours 24 minutes; wind gauge, miles run in the last 24 hours, 57. Yesterday was overcast and cold.
