FIRE IN SHIP
Seventv Passengers Missing LONDON. Sept. 30. Seventy passengers, including women and children, are missing and feared dead from the Empire Patrol (3330 tons), which took fire and was abandoned 46 miles northeast of Port ‘’aid repatriating 562 Greek refugees. The search for survivors continued throughout last night. British naval vessels illuminating the scene with searchlights. while R.A.F. bombers dropped relays of dares. More than 200 children were aboard when the fire swept the ship Survivors from the crew say that panic broke out. n essitating the women and children being iorcil lowered from the blazing ship to the rescue boats. The lowering gear of one crowded lifeboat is reported to have jammed, and the boat crashed into the choppy sea. A stiff wind increased the rescue difficulties.
