FURTHER AGREEMENT
Chungking and Communists (11.25 p.m.) NEW YORK. Oct. 1. The Communists have agreed to withdraw their troops from an area to the south of the Yangtze Ki ver, a!«o from some districts in the north, savs the Chungking correspondent of the “New York Times.”
Generalissimo Chiang 1 Kai-shek is willing to release all political prisoners and also to grant the people freedom of person, conscience, speech, publication and association. He also promised that special police duties in future will be confined to intelligence. The police would be forbidden to make arrests and order detentions.
