Volunteer Officers

(NZ.P.A.) AUCKLAND. Oct. 1. Anticipating the Government’s decision to send an occupation force to Japan, a number of former army officers and other ranks have already applied for appointments to the force. The applications were made before the Prime Minister announced the Government’s intentions. The army in Auckland has not vet received any instructions for calling for volunteers to succeed the men who are to be sent from the Second Division in Italy. The applications which have been received have been filed for future reference.
