UNSETTLED The following is the forecast lor South Canterbury issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the period ending 5 p.m. to-day:— General Situation A group of depressions surround New Zealand. Forecast Winds.—Fresh to strong southerlies. Weather.—Dull and colder with further rain, but improving temporarily from the south. Oct. 28 at 10.36 a.m. MORE RAIN The early morning was dull and warm, but a change in the direction of the wind brought rain at mid-day and the remainder of the day was wet and cold. Following' are the records taken at Timaru Park for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday with the exception of the maximum temperature and sunshine for the day, which were taken at 7 p.m.:— Max. temperature in shade: 52.6. Min. temperature on grass: 38.4. Frost: Nil. Wind: 5.5.E.3. Rainfall: Nil. Rainfall to date this year: 28.32in5. Rainfall to date last year: 18.971n5. Sunshine: Nil. Sunshine to date this year: 1364.4 hrs Sunshine to date last year: 1278.4 hrs IN OTHER CENTRES Temuka.—Yesterday was showery with a south-west wind. The maximum temperature was 45 dgerees and the minimum 38. Eight points of rain were recorded. The glass was falling last evening. Waimate (for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday). —Barometer, 29.1; thermometer, maximum 62, minimum 42.2; bright sunshine. 6 hours 54 minutes; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours, 50. Yesterday was cold and wet.
