TIMARU BUS SERVICE
Sir.—Now that the Borough Council is discussing the bus services, I wish to forward a suggestion. As four ot the main routes are practically parallel, and most of the passengers come from the side streets between these routes, would it not be possible to alter the starting' times of two of these buses? Say Wai-iti Road and North Street bus leave together at 10 a.m. and Church Street and Hassall Street at 10.15 a.m. That would give patrons m the side streets a choice of bus at 15 minute intervals instead of one bus in 30 minutes. Another improvement would be for the North Street bus to continue up Otipua Road to Raymond Street, down that street to Oxford Street and back on to North Street. That would not eliminate any stop on North Street and by an increase of only a few hundred yards in running would give a service to upwards of a hundred householders. The same would apply to the Church Street bus going round Maltby Avenue. —I am, etc., Simple Simon.
