POLICE OPEN FIRE
Argentine Demonstration (11.20 p.m.) BUENOS AIRES. Aug. 19. Police early yesterday machinegunned political demonstrators, wounding nine. Brandishing sabres, mounted police charged and dispersed crowds. The disorders coincided with the increasing demands for the restitution of constitutional government. Colonel J. D. Peron (Vice President) Showed Hie first sign of weakness yesterday when he did not appear at the Inauguration of the national livestock show which annually marks the height, of the official season. All other Minislers, in violation of half a century of tradition, likewise on various pretexts lulled to attend. A large crowd immediately noticed their absence and transformed the show into a political demonstration against the Government with shouts of He Han Aw IV.” 'Death to Peron.” The first artillery men appearing in the ring were received with such overwhelming hostility that the military ia lion ol the show was abandoned.
