Timaru Competitions Fifteenth Festival Commences With record einnes and large attendances ac the opening sessions on sauuraay, the iiueeuih annual icsdval 01 the 1 .maru Competitions promises to be an outstanding success, conducted under me auspices 01 the South canterbury Centre m the Piping ana Dancing Association of New Zealand, this year’s lesuval, without including me post entries lor the piping ano Highland dress competitions, has attracted 2050 entries, compared wim 1800 last year. Under me presided, tivir R. W. Munro), with Mr J. Glass as secretary, capable arrangements nave been made by the Executive Committee for me control of the festival, which is being held in the Garonne Bay Hail, Bay Tearooms, and the Little Playhouse. •The judges are: National dancing ana Highland dress. Mrs B. Scott (Timaru); fancy dancing, Miss Lily Stevens, M.R.A.D. (Dunedin); vocal and instrumental, Mi' Prank Calloway (Dunedin); elocution, Mrs J. Protheroe, A.T.C.L. (Ashburton); human pyramids, Mr K. Muff (Christchurch). The official accompanists are Mesdames P. McGavin, A.T.C.L., L.T.C.L., and F. Stowell, A.T.C.L., L.T.C.L., and the official pipers are Messrs J. Logan and D. Cormack. The Mayor 01 Timaru (Mr A E. S Hanan) Will perform the official opening at this evening’s session in the Bay Hall.
