Noisy Celebrations In U.S.

Violence In Halifax (11.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, Aug. 13. Nation-wide noisy celebrations followed the false peace report. Crowds in many cities continued the rejoicings after the radio and Press stated that the announcement was incorrect. A message from Halifax, Canada, says that the celebrations flared ub with violence. Police, using batons, drove off a mob of several hundreds which attempted to storm the liquor store which was previously looted on V-E Day.
