Timaru Branch At the monthly meeting of the National Council of Women the following organisations were represented: Federation of Women’s Institutes. T.H.S. Old Girls’ Association, Trained Nurses, W.C.T.U.. Y.W.C.A., St. Mary's Mothers’ Union. St. John’s Mothers' Union. Catholic Women's League, Woodlands Street Methodist Ladies, Chalmers Guild. B. and P. Club. National Party Women’s Committee. Trinity Presbyterian League of Mothers. W.D.F.U., and six associate members. A motion of sympathy was passed to Mrs Talbot in the death of her mother. Mrs Kemshed welcomed one new associate member, Miss Beggs, also Mrs Kippenberger, who represents the Waimate W.C.T.U. Branches were asked to consider and report on the question of raw v. pasteurised milk. A remit from the. W.D.F.U. and a letter from the Dominion president of the N.C.W., asking that women of New Zealand voluntarily give up a certain portion of rationed goods and so provide extra fond for women overseas was agreed to on condition that the Government give a guarantee that the foodstuffs so released will be forwarded. Country delegates reported that large quantities of fat could be obtained for shipment if a way could be found for getting- it there in good condition. The conference is to be held in Napier from October 29 to November 2. Mrs Macleod gave an address on the work of (raining girls at the Stratheona training centre. Miss Mill' inoveri and Mrs Heron seconded (bat the Dominion Executive be approached to urge the Government: to make representations that the forces contained in atomic bombs be put to uses for the EWji
