STIFF RESISTANCE
Fighting In Burma (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) COLOMBO. Aug. 11. A South-east Asia Command communique says: “Stubborn resistance was encountered bv our troops in flooded areas north of the old Sittamr River channel between Abya and Myitkvo where the enemy oentinues to hold some villages. “On the bank of the Sittano River, eight miles north-easU-af Penwegen. small parties of the enemy are engaged bv our troops and casualties were inflicted. Since their attempted breakout three weeks ago the enemy has suffered 11.500 casualties.
