I (N.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON. July 23. , The employees, at two footwear faci tories in the Wellington area decided j unanimously at meetings to-day against I direct action or a suggested 50 per cent go-slow policy in regard to production as the result of wage anomalies which are claimed to exist in tha trade in some centres following the general order. At the factories of R. Hannah and I Company. Limited Wellington, and. New Zealand Slippers Ltd.. Lower ! Hutt. Mr G. Marston, secretary of the ; Wellington Union, gave a 15 minute i talk to the employees to-day. At the ! conclusion of each meeting the em- ! plovees voted to take no action until I the expirv of their present award in | April next year, when they will meet j the employers in council. McDonnell' ’ said afterwards that dissatisfaction was i with the award and not with the I employers. A decision on the matter, he added, would be made on a Dominion basis. The factories were kept i open during the afternoon, but none of ! the employees returned to work.
