JOINT ALLIED ACTION
Countering Berlin Black (Rec. 12.56 a.m.) BERLIN. July 20. The four Allied commanders in Berlin have decided to take joint action to eliminate the black market, which Major-General F. Parkes described as “a menace lo (he city's welfare." He urged tlr.it co-ordinated steps be u immediately. Provost-mashals from the four Powers have prepared a joint plan and a close watch is expected on the sale of such items as bread, meat, petrol and alcohol. Black market activities are proceeding openly, says an agency correspondent. There have been instances of the police refusing to take action.
