ROYAL NAVY
Dispersal Of Personnel LONDON, June 11. The Admiralty has announced that the dispersal of officees and ratings, including Royal Marines, in the age and service group one, and of all high-priority Marines, Wrens, officers and ratings, will begin next Monday and extend over several weeks. The Admiralty explains that the remainder of the Navy is essential and as the age and service groups are not equally distributed among the different branches it was impossible for an equivalent number of age and service groups to be released simultaneously. It is expected that the dispersal of officers in age and service group one will be completed by October, with the exception of engineer and medical officers and some classes of w’arrant officers. It is hoped that officers in the age and service groups three to eight, with the same exceptions, will be dispersed before the end of the year. If sufficient progress is made with the dispersal of ratings in group one, the dispersal of male ratings and other ranks of the Royal Marines in age and service groups three to eight inclusive should begin in the middle of July, and those in groups nine to 16, inclusive, after the middle of August. The Admiralty also says that the release of some officer categories and ratings groups will depend on the requirements of the w’ar against Japan and the rate at which the various branches are freed from duties now being _.;rried out in Europe and in Home waters. Th? Admiraltv points out that, naval forces in the Far East are being built up as rapidly as possible from the later age and service groups.
