SEADOWN

Women’s Institute Mrs H. Gibson presided at the June meeting of the Seadown 'Women’s Institute. The new members were welcomed. Two letters were read from servicemen overseas conveying .thanks for cakes received by them from the Institute. Competitions resulted as follows: Wholemeal scones, Mrs G. Dunnett 1, Mrs H. Gibson 2; plate decorated with leaves, berries and fruit. Miss H. Gibson 1, Mrs G. Dunnett 2; patriotic knitting, Miss D. Kennedy' 1, Miss M. Edgar 2. Demonstrations of making of dolls’ faces and woollen rugs were given by Mesdames Cross and Thomas, of Temuka. They were accorded a vote of thanks. The hostesses were Mesdames S. Cargo and W. Cain.
