RICCARTON NOTES

(Special) CHRISTCHURCH, June 12. Though the horses who went to Auckland came home on Saturday, transport troubles delayed the return of some of the men who did the trip. E. Rc-sewarne arrived on Saturday, while R. E. Johnstone and K. Thomson reached home this morning. C. G. Humphries and R. E. Hawes are expected this evening, after travelling overland from Picton. Maggiore, The Vulture and Gulf Stream, looking none the worse for their racing in Auckland, were at the track this morning. They may be included in the team that C. G. Humphries will race at Trentham next month. Spanish Main is being kept in work for the Grand National meeting, but before that he may go to the Hunt meeting at Washdyke. R. B. Robinson has Gunga Din back at the track, looking well after a short rest. He is to be tried as a jumper and he is due to start this week in his education over hurdles. V. Lee has a newcomer in his team. She is a two-year-old filly by NightlyTea Song by Hunting Song-Tea Doll, and she will be raced by her breeder, Mrs G. L. Rutherford. A. Stove has made a start with the two-year-old brother to Authentic. This well-grown young horse did a bit of work earlier in the season and he looks a good prospect for the spring. G. Ridgway is busy with a two-year-old colt, who may be a good performer next season. He is by Kincardine from Jay Bird, by Hunting Song from Blue Jay, by Autumn.
