CZECH DEMAND

Ownership Of Teschen (1.10 a.m.) LONDON, May 31. The Prague radio broadcast a statement from the Silesian National Commission for Teschen, the former underground organisation, containing the first demands for Czech control over the area. The statement said: “We are longing for peace and the removal of all obstacles in the sad Czech-Polish relations which brought much harm and caused many sacrifices to the people. We ask the Government most urgently to reorganise Teschen in such a way that it will become the true home for Czechs and Slovaks with all other parts of the Czecnoslovak Republic.” The correspondent of the British United Press Says the ownership of Teschen was the subject of one of the earliest disputes between Czechoslovakia and Poland after the last war and a screen of French troops had to be placed in this area.
