Counter-measures Taken (12.58 a.m.) CANBERRA, May 30. The Commonwealth Government ha: decided that after August 31 next Australian notes of a denomination o more than £lO will cease to be lega lender. Further issues of these note: will not be made. This is regarded a: the first step by the Government tc eliminate note hoarding. The Government is also known tc believe it will be an effective methoc of dealing with blackmarketing by striking at persons with large sums 61 ready cash at their disposal.
