SOLDIERS BREAK CAMP

Disturbances In New South Wales (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 30. More than 200 soldiers made two attempts to break out of a military detention camp at Tamworth, New South Wales, yesterdav. They attacked their guards with sticks, stones and tent poles. The guards were forced to use their bayonets and one of the prisoners was wounded in the arm. On Monday night more than 100 soldiers had broken out of the camp and marched to the local newspaper offices where they complained of Inadequate, unclean food and illtreatment at the camp. About 20 men are still at large. There are about 400 soldiers in the camp, most of them serving sentences for being absent without leave or for desertion. A Ministerial investigation into the disturbances has teen promised.
