BEEF VALUES UNCHANGED The penning of fat cattle at St. Andrews was an average one with quality for the most part good. Competition was steady throughout, and values realised were on a par with recent auctions. The yarding of fat sheep and lambs was an average one, the bulk of the penning being of indifferent quality. Two of the exporting companies were not operating, and competition was slow. Values were:— Cattle: Prime heavy steers £ll/2/6 to £l3/17 6. prime heifers £lO 7 6 to £l3/7/6; light to £B/17/6, prime heavy cows £B/7/6 to £ll/17/6. Store cattle: bulls to £5/17/6, 3-year steers and heifers £7 to £lO. Fat sheep: Prime heavy ewes to 20/10, light to medium 12/10 to 16 4. Store sheep: medium ewe lambs to 20/9, 2-shear 3 bred ewes to 28/6, 2-tooth wethers to 26 6.
