Land Sales Committee Decisions

The Canterbury Rural Land Sales Committee held a sitting in Timaru yesterday when in the majority of the properties offered the prices were reduced.

Mr W. O. Rennie presided, and with him were associated Messrs B. 8. Robertson and E. J. Lynskey (Crown representative).

Approval was, sought to the sale at £l2OO of a storey and a half wooden residence on 15 perches at 6 Theodocia Street. On behalf of the vendor Mr R. J. Moyes valued the property at £lO9O, George Reid at £lOB5 and P. W. Rule at £llOl. The Crown valuation was £950. After inspecting the property the sale was approved subject to the price being reduced to £lOOO. An old five-roomed dwelling on 15.3 perches at 28 Grey Road, Timaru, was on offer at £725. On behalf of the vendor Mr P. B. Foote valued the property at £679 and the Crown valuation was £590. After an inspection the sale was approved subject to the price being reduced to £625. Consent was sought to the sale at £4lO of a section of 20 perches, with wood and poilite garage equipped with electric light, situated in Evans Street, Timaru, a little north of the junction of Beverley Road. The Crown valualon was given at £360. The sale was approved subject to the price being reduced to £3BO.

The vendor asked £BOO for an old five-roomed wooden dwelling on 24 perches at 65 Hassall Street. The Crown valuation was given at £7BO and the sale was approved subject to the price being reduced to £7BO. Permission was sought to sell an old wooden dwelling on 28.5 perches in High Street, Timaru, for £B5O. The Crown valuation was £6BO and the sale was approved subject to the price being reduced to £725 by consent.

An old four-roomed cottage on 3 roods 16 perches, Main North Road, Temuka. was on offer at £425. The Crown valuation was £360 and the sale was approved subject to the price being reduced to £3BO. An old seven-roomed wooden house of the homestead type on 2 roods 13 perches at the comer of Lower High Street and Eaton Street, Waimate. was offered at £9OO. On behalf of the vendor Mr George Reid valued the property at £9OO and the Crown valuation by Mr J. J. Keppel was £740. The committee approved of the sale subject to the price being reduced to £B3O.

Consent was granted to the following sales:—Brick dwelling on 38 perches at 144 Chalmers Avenue, Ashburton, at £1700; old five-roomed wooden dwelling on 1 rood at 159 Moore Street, Ashburton, at £3OO.
