REMOVED BY GERMANS
Distinguished Prisoners (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) LONDON, April 18. A correspondent of “The Times,” who was taken prisoner in the commando raid on St. Nazaire, was among the prisoners released from a prison camp on Tuesday. He said that three nights previously the Germans removed a number of special prisoners, including Lieutenant Lord Lascelles, (his Majesty’s nephew), Captain the Master of Elphinstone, (Queen's nephew), Captain Michael Alexander (Field-Marshal Sir Bernard Alexander’s cousin), Mr Giles Romeilly (Mr Churchills nephew) and Mr John Wlnant (son of the American Ambassador in London). The correspondent added that the Germans were on the point of removing the remaining 350 prisoners, including many well-known British officers and others, when the Americans reached the camp.
