WEATHER SOUTH CANTERBURY FORECAST

FAIR AND WARM The following is the forecast fol South Canterbury issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the period ending 5 p.m. to-day:— General Situation An anti-cyclone is passing east of the Dominion. A deep depression lies over the South-west Tasman Sea, Forecast Winds.—Moderate north-easterly winds at first, turning to north-west-erly during the day. Weather.—Fair to cloudy and becoming warm. TIMARU RECORDS Sun rises at Timaru to-day 5.32 a.m.; sets 8.4 p.m. High water at Timaru to-day 6.18 a.m.; 6.38 p.m.

FINE DAY Yesterday was fine with bright, warm sunshine. Following are the records taken at Timaru Park for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday; with the exception of the maximum temperature and sunshine for the day. which were taken it 7 p.m.:— Max. temperature in shade: 73.8. Min. temperature on grass: 56.2. Wind: Calm. Rainfall: Nil. Rainfall to date this year: 3.6 Bins. Rainfall to’date last year: 0.87 in. Sunshine: 4.8 hours. Sunshine to date this year; 163.11hr5. Sunshine to date last year: 248.9hr5.

IN OTHER CENTRES Temuka. —Yesterday was warm with a north-east wind. The maximum temperature was 77 degrees and the minimum 54. The glass was falling last evening. Waimate (for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday).—Barometer, 29.3; thermometer, maximum 64.5, minimum 55; bright sunshine, 1 hour 6 minutes; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours. 103. Yesterday was sunny and warm.
