FAIRLIE
Social Arranged
At a meeting of the executive of the Fairlie Sub-branch of the R.S.A., it was agreed to hold a smoke concert and to extend a welcome to all men who have returned from overseas since the last function was held. An invitation is extended to all other returned men and members of the Association. Arrangements have been made to hold the concert in the Aorangi Hall on Friday. The last smoke concert held was very successful, and it is anticipated that the function now being arranged will be even more successful. Slack Sales Up to date there have been no stock sales held at the Fairlie saleyards this season. The sale set down for yesterday was cancelled owing to lack of entries. It is anticipated that sufficient stock will be entered for the sale to be held in two weeks’ time. Harvest Weather With good weather full opportunity has been taken to harvest the hay crop. Pulling of linen flax has also been going on. Several hot days have been experienced, while on Saturday a fairly strong nor'-west wind blew. Feed, which is abundant, should derive coi'trilerable benefit from the drier conditions. As well as harvesting, shearing is still in progress, and farmers are having a busy time.
