PRIORITY SYSTEM
Egg Distribution In Australia (Rec. 10 p.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 29. A priority system of egg distribution will begin on February 26 in the Australian capital cities and some country centres. Children up to five will be allotted three eggs a week, expectant and nursing mothers six, and persons suffering from certain illnesses up to a maximum of 12 a week;. No coupons will be used and the public will be able to buy surplus eggs after priority demands have been met.
Announcing the egg distribution scheme, the Minister of Commerce, Mr W. J. Scully, said there was a record production of nearly 11.000,000 dozen eggs more than last season’s total. The allocation for Australian civilian consumption this season would be 62,000,000 dozen, and the priority scheme was expected to operate only until the end of June.
