FELL INTO CREEK
Little Girl Drowned (N.Z.P.A.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 29. Falling from a ledge into the deep water of a tidal creek at Waiwera, a girl met her death by drowning. She was Margaret Lincoln, aged seven, daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel L. A. Lincoln and Mrs Lincoln, of Mount Roskill. The accident occurred while she was playing with her brother. Mervyn. aged eight, who leaped in after her in an unsuccessful attempt at rescue. The child, who was unable to swim, sank almost immediately, and her brother, who rapidly became distressed, had to be helped from the water. A search was made for the body and the girl’s father located it in about 7ft of water. Lieutenant-Colonel Lincoln only recently returned from service in the Pacific
