BURNS NIGHT
Gathering At Pareora
More than 200 admirers of Scotland's immortal bard were present in the Pareora Hall on Saturday night when the Pareora Burns Club held its annual gathering. Those responsible are to be congratulated on the excellent arrangements for the evening. Mr A. D. Munro presided and Mr G. Selbie, who was the guest of honour, delivered an entertaining address on Burns. The haggis was piped around tlie hall in true Scottish style and before being served was addressed by Mr G. Hutton. The following was the toast list:— “The King,” “Absent Friends." Mr H. A. Bissett; “The Chief.” proposed by Mr Walter Ramsay: “The Guest.” proposed by Mr R. W. Munro; “The Visitors and Entertainers.” proposed bv the Chief; “The Boys Overseas,” proposed by Mr R. G. Munro. Items were given by Messrs Alan Shrimpton. Arthur Wheeler. K. Tooth, and Walter Ramsay (songs), Don Bruce (sword dance). J. Browan (jig), and R. D. Munro (recitation).
