GERALDINE FAREWELL SOCIAL
Methodist Function The Geraldine Methodist Sunday School Hall was crowded on the occasion of a farewell social and presentation to Mr and Mrs G. B. Couch, who are leaving Geraldine to take up their residence in South Brighton, Christchurch. Complimentary remarks concerning the work of the guests in the various activities of the church were made by Messrs Bruce Logan (congregation), L. Neutze (choir), F. Neutze (Sunday School), O. Neutze (Bible Class), and Mrs Prosser on behalf of Mr Prosser and the Ladies’ Guild. Mr P. H. Davis, who presided, presented Mrs Couch with a salad service and Mr Couch with a fountain pen and an eversharp pencil. In doing so he referred to the vast interest both the guests had taken in the work of the church and wished them godspeed and every happiness in their new home. In thanking their friends for the gifts, Mr Couch said he was interested in the work of the church and had only been too pleased to do what he could to make this world a better place to live in. During the evening solos were given by Mesdames Toomey and Irvine, Miss Rowena Mitchell and Master Billy Irvine, and a duet was contributed by Mr and Mrs Couch. Personal Mr Wallace McCullough, of Raukapuka, has left on a visit to Ashburton. Miss P. Brendon, of Timaru, is the guest of Mrs H. J. Bowkett, Gresham Street.
